Danielle Martin, MACC Candidate

Elena-(Lane)-Mayfield

Hello, my name is Danielle Martin. I am delighted to be a part of the GIFT team as an intern! I received my Bachelor in Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in education and psychology from North Greenville University in 2007. I am currently pursuing my masters degree in clinical counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte. I expect to graduate in May 2025. Prior to graduate school, I worked with a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting foster families and relative caregivers. My experience within the foster care system not only provided me with opportunities to work with underserved and diverse populations, but also exposed me to the effect trauma has on individuals and families. Through this work I witnessed the impact trauma has on both the body and mind, as well as its generational impact.

Bringing these educational and professional experiences into the counseling room – I recognize and value the impact of presence. As such, I aim to provide a warm, curious, and non-judgmental space in order to bear witness to the stories each individual holds. I work from a holistic and person-centered approach. My developing theoretical approach is trauma-informed and integrative – mind, body, and spirit. I incorporate somatic practices, parts-work, and emotion and attachment based theoretical orientations.

In my free time I enjoy grabbing a good cup of coffee with a friend, practicing yoga, and catching up on my favorite podcasts.
