Samantha-Chassereau

Hey there! I am so excited to meet you and I cannot wait to continue our therapeutic relationship together. Before we do that, let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Samantha Chassereau, and I was born and raised in Greenville, SC. I attended the University of South Carolina where I received a bachelor’s degree in Experimental Psychology and my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation. I married my amazing husband in April of 2022, and we have two amazing dogs together: Deuce (black lab) and Folly (golden retriever). After working with children throughout my internship, I realized there was a need for emotional awareness and self-regulation books, and so I created “The Fabulous Feelings of Folly: A Therapeutic Guide to Emotions”.

I found a passion in working with children, adolescents, and their families. I specialize in trauma focused therapy as well as use a holistic approach. I believe that every child is unique and special in their own way, so my therapeutic approach should be as well. A couple therapeutic approaches I love include Gestalt and Adlerian. When working with children and adolescents I also use techniques found and based in play therapy. I think that play is the basis of building a relationship for a child when with an adult. It allows the child, and even the adolescent to use their creative imagination as well as work through trauma and other interpersonal conflicts. I also love play therapy because I get to become a little kid again who draws, paints, plays with playdoh, races cars, and gets to build Legos. I have experience working in areas of trauma, anxiety, depression, attention deficits, aggression, defiance, and compulsive disorders. As my client, my number one priority for you is to be there for support. I believe that support as well as understanding, empathy, and a trusting relationship goes a long way in you reaching your goals. As my client, you will be my number one priority.

When I am not in my amazing office at GIFT Counseling, you can find me doing a lot of fun things! I love painting and coloring while sitting at home on my back deck. I also love to read mystery and drama books. I have a passion for shopping as well. You can almost always find me at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Goodwill, and Miracle Hill. I love to be outside and to eat good and delicious food. Now that you have gotten to know me, let’s start this awesome therapeutic process together!
